Europa Cinemas funds cinemas for digital screening

This year, Europa Cinemas is funding European cinemas with digital projection for 5,000 Euro per screen. The support programme is intended to increase digital screenings of European films in cinemas, boost the digital products on offer from distributors and inform cinema operators of the opportunities available through digital screening technology.

To receive the funding, cinemas must fulfill the following requirements: the cinema must be a member of Europa Cinemas or of the MEDIA network. Europa Cinemas defines a digital projection as a screening of a film at least 60 minutes in duration and in 2K resolution (no DVD, Blu-Ray or Beta SP). The cinema programme must include at least seven European film titles per year and at least 150 screenings overall. 50 per cent of the films screened must be produced outside the country of screening.
